Either, watch the video of 'Marcy and the riddle of the Sphinx' Or you can read a copy using Epic Books - here (make sure you are logged in to epic for the link to work) Day 1 - Watch/Read the book. Discuss the events, characters and settings. Make a bullet point summary of the story events from each page: e.g.
Brownstone characters are often children and unlikely heroes/adventurers. What were your first thoughts of Marcy? How did she change throughout the book? Create your own Brownstone character. Draw a picture and write a character description. Use looks and personality in your description. You should use some really powerful adjectives and fronted adverbials. Day 3 - Using the character you created yesterday and the notes you made from Monday, create a plan for your own Brownstone adventure. Using the bullet points you made, can you make a new set, changing the ideas to fit your new adventure. You can come up with anyhting: Some ideas are, William and Boudicca's missing necklace, Pippa and the search for the Bermuda Triangle, Hector saves Mount Olympus. Day 4 - Write out your story by hand as a first draft. Think about putting ideas into paragraphs and grouping descriptions together. Use speech marks when characters are communicating, using a range of reporting verbs. Day 5 - Edit and type your story to submit online. Login to your google classroom to find your document. Topic - Based on the book Marcy and the Sphinx. Here is an introduction to 'Who were the Egyptians?'
