Meet the Governors

Welcome to Wark C of E Primary School Governors webpage. Ever since the school was founded in 1684 there has been a dedicated board of governors whose purpose is to support the teaching staff and ensure that the children who attend the school not only enjoy the experience of learning but also want to go on to learn more.
Governors are given individual roles and responsibilities and also work on selected committees to help with the immediate and long term running of the school. The full Governing body meets at least twice a term to discuss any issues and plan for the future.
The current list of Governors is given below. If you are interested in joining the board of Governors or have a question relating to the governance of the school, please feel free to contact the Head Teacher or Chairman of Governors. If you would like to contact any of the Governors', their contact details are available in school.

Chairperson :          Miss Judith Weir
Vice-Chairperson:  Mrs Esther Brown
Head Teacher:         Mr Michael Boucetla

Foundation Governors:
  • Nick Ridley (Foundation Governor)
  • Jane Abrams (Foundation Governor)
  • Sarah Lunn (Church Representative)
Parent Governors:
  • Kelly ritchie
  • Debbie Longands
  • Elizabeth walters
Teacher Governor:  Mrs Fiona McKay.
There are 10 Governors in total.
The Governing Body has responsibility for the school's overall strategic direction.
The Governors :
  • Are accountable to parents and the wider community for the performance of the school.
  • Make sure the school provides for all its pupils, including those with special needs.
  • Formulate and adopt the aims and policies of the school.
  • Ensure the National Curriculum is taught.
  • Interview and appoint key members of staff.
  • Make decisions on the school's budget and staffing.
Parents are welcome to contact the Chair of Governors by e-mail: admin@wark.northumberland.sch.uk or by telephoning the school office. However please note that Governors cannot become involved in individual pupil issues and parents should speak to the class teacher or head teacher in the first instance.
All of our Governors are members of sub-committees to deal with specific issues relating to Personnel, the Curriculum, Property and Finance, which meet regularly and feed back to the full Governing Body. Non-teaching Governors often visit the school and all governors undertake to support certain subject areas as link-governors and liaise with staff who co-ordinate that area.
